The VI International Meeting on Lorenztian Geometry, Granada 2011, will take place at the Aula Magna of the Science Faculty of the University of Granada, located in the Fuentenueva Campus. The GPS coordinates are +37° 10' 46.45", -3° 36' 32.64".

From the airport to Granada

There is a bus service and plenty of taxi. For the bus, as soon as you pick up your luggage, turn right and get outside the building. The bus stop is right there. You might ask the driver to stop at "Avenida de la Constitucion", next to "Universidad - Ciencias".

From the bus station

You can take buses number 3 or 10, depending on your hotel.

  • For hotels Aben Humeya, Vincci and Abba Granada, bus 3 is better. Just get off the bus at "Constitucion 2" stop, which is in a big intersection.
  • For hotels Granada Center, (Gran) Luna, take bus number 10.  Get off the bus at "Camino Ronda 7" stop.

Transport

  • Granada is located in Andalucía, southern Spain. Granada airport is 20 minutes by taxi (about 25 €) from the Conference centre. Also, it is possible to take a bus to the city center (about 3€). There are daily flights to and from Madrid and Barcelona and flights to other Spanish and European destinations. Malaga international airport on the Costa del Sol is about 130 km from Granada (about 1h15 min. by coach) and is connected to most of the major European cities and some American destinations by daily flights. From Malaga airport, the Alsa company has introduced two new routes linking directly Malaga airport and Granada. The connection to Granada departs from the airport twice a day (11:30 and 18:30). For more information please consult the Alsa website. Otherwise you must go to Malaga bus station and get a bus to Granada. There is a bus each hour. Once you have arrived, Granada bus station is not in the city center so you can take a taxi (10 Euros) or a bus (lines 3, 10 or 33) to get there (see the map of city buses)
  • Granada is conveniently linked by motorway to Madrid (420 km) and Barcelona (850 km), and from there on to other European destinations. The motorways in Andalucía also provide good connections between Granada and other major towns in the region such as Malaga, Córdoba (150 km) and Seville (250 km).
  • There are daily train services between Granada and Malaga, Madrid and Barcelona. There are frequent connections between Madrid, Seville, Córdoba and Malaga by the high-speed AVE trains. Timetables are available at RENFE website.

Climate

  • In general the weather in September is quite pleasant and sunny, with day time temperatures reaching about 25-30ºC. The evenings, however, due to Granada's high altitude and the proximity of the Sierra Nevada, can still be fairly cool and about 15°C.
